This trail is mainly used for commercial military and is an emigrant trail. It is currently one of America's greatest trade routes. Tips about the trip: Forts- There are many forts that you can stop and look at on your way to your destination or you can stay at them and park your wagon there for a few nights if you would like. Elevation- If you are afraid of heights, then you might want to choose a different trail or just don't look down because this trail is about 7,000 feet above sea level. Extras- You might want to bring water if you are going on this trail because there is a very limited supply of water. On most of this trip, you will not have any water at all unless you bring your own and boil it, or bring water that you already boiled. Also, you might run out of food quickly, so bring a little extra just in case. Then you have the Native Americans. They could get into a fight if you take a good amount of their hunting animals, like buffalo. Finally, along this trail the humidity level is pretty high. It could get really hot. Even though that this trail was recently built in 1821, it is a great one and stretches about 900 miles, just from Independence, Missouri to Santa Fe, New Mexico, so that you, the emigrants, can fill your expansion needs. This trail will give you a chance to trade and for you to get your life-long dream, riches! Terrain- The highest terrain that you will face on this trip is mountains, but you will also encounter a little bit of dessert and some grasslands. How To Get There- I recommend using oxen to pull your farm wagon, but if there are none left, you should see if there are any mules left. Native Americans- The tribes that you may encounter along the way are the following tribes: Pueblos, Shawnee, Kansa, Osage, Pawnee, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Comanche, Kiowa, and Apache. They don't really like the white people to much, so try to stay away from them as much as possible. Animals- There are good food sources that you can hunt down and eat such as buffalo, elk and deer. |
